Build with Ultimate Frisbee! (new)
Try our
new ultimate frisbee challenge, it is suitable as team building
activity or just for team bonding. Ultimate Frisbee is a team
sport that is easy to learn, fun and it can be played at a location
near your office!
Ultimate
Frisbee requires team work, communication, strategy, and most
importantly, integrity. Like most ball games, ultimate frisbee
bonds participants as they pitch their skills against competition
teams. The difference is that, this time, there is no referee.
Participants
will realize that, in order for a team to win, we have to understand
the people around us, their strengths and weaknesses. only when
we are able to understand our team mates and listen to their opinions
will we be able to build an effective relationship in the workplace.
Ultimate
Frisbee – Fact Sheet
- Ultimate
Frisbee is a seven-a-side (usually) team sport played with a
frisbee.
- Ultimate
Frisbee was invented in 1968 by school students at Columbia
High School in Maplewood, New Jersey USA. In fact, one of them
residing in Singapore right now. By the way, he married a local
gal here.
- Ultimate
Frisbee is a non-contact, self-refereed
sport - players are responsible for calling
infringements and resolving disputes on the field of play.
- The
name Ultimate comes from the central idea of "ultimate
spirit of the game" which refers to the high level of sportsmanship
in Ultimate Frisbee.
- Even
World Championships are played without
referees.
- The official
Frisbee used for Ultimate Frisbee is a 175 gram disc.
- The playing
field is a half-width soccer field with an end zone at each
end. (37m by 64 m and with a 18 m deep end zone on both side
of the proper playing field) we don’t have to play this
standard size.
- When
a player catches the frisbee in the end zone they are attacking,
their team scores a point.
- Players
are not allowed to run with the frisbee, they must advance the
frisbee by completing passes down the field.
- The thrower
has ten seconds to throw the frisbee.
- A team
loses possession if they drop the frisbee, throw it out of bounds
or it is intercepted by the opposition.
- Ultimate
Frisbee is played in over forty countries around the world.
- World
Championships are held every two years and attract teams from
every continent.
- The Singapore
Top local club Freakshow, is currently the top Team in Asia.(outside
Japan)
- The strongest
countries are the USA, Canada, Sweden and Japan.
- There
are approximately 1400 people playing casual or competitive
Ultimate Frisbee in Singapore. (This not including school student
playing in schools)
- The
2004 World Ultimate Frisbee Championships was held in Turku,
Finland in August 2004 attracting over 2000 athletes from 30
countries.
- Ultimate
Frisbee in Singapore is supported by Singapore Sports Council.
- Last
year in May, there are about 500 primary school (Primary 5 and
Primary 6 level) competing in an inaugural East Zone School Frisbee
Competition.
- And
annually in September, the largest Ultimate Frisbee competition
will be held here in Singapore. 20 Asian Ultimate Frisbee Club
will be participating.
